Weyland Corporate Mug!
Weyland Corporation, often shortened to Weyland Corp and sometimes referred as simply “The Company”[1], was a British[2] multinational corporation founded in 2012 by Sir Peter Weyland. Weyland Corp specialized in advanced technologies, creating and developing several major advancements in the fields of holographics, off-world colonization, FTL travel, cybernetics, transportation, and healthcare. The company’s headquarters were located in San Francisco, California, United States.[3] Weyland Corp was eventually acquired by the Yutani Corporation and reformed into the Weyland-Yutani Corporation
Established by Sir Peter Weyland on October 11, 2012, Weyland Corp became the first company in history to make $100 billion within five years due to massive successes in technological advances. In 2029, the Yutani Corporation filed a lawsuit against Weyland over a patent dispute with the David synthetic series. Weyland Corp won the lawsuit, securing its investments and shareholders. Due to its combined value of various patents, the company incorporated a higher fair market valuation than any other company in history once it was created.
Weyland Corp would go on to terraform the first functional and breathable atmosphere on GJ 667Cc, on May 28, 2039, paving way for further terraforming on other planets, one of which would eventually be Acheron (LV-426). After the loss of the USCSS Prometheus, the 900 series of special corporate orders were introduced in 2095.
In 2099, Weyland Corp merged with Yutani Corporation, forming Weyland-Yutani Corporation.[4] While it was often said that Weyland had absorbed Yutani, in reality the opposite was true — Yutani Corporation, under its founder Hideo Yutani, bought out Weyland Corp in a fiercely contested hostile takeover, beating rival bids from other potential buyers such as the Chinese Combine.[5]
